Cool Video: Sleep--How Much is Optimal?

This Cool Video is a brief discussion of the new studies about sleep. The Wall Street Journal's Sumathi Reddy joins Tanya Rivero share some of the findings, including that perhaps the old rule of thumb of eight hours a night is more than might actually be optimal. Part of the data is drawn from a 2013 survey by the National Sleep Association, which found that people say that on average they need seven hours and 13 minutes of sleep to be at their best. The self-reporting survey found that on average people say they sleep six hours 31 minutes during the week and seven hours 22 minutes on the weekend. However, the amount of sleep one gets seems to be culturally specific.
